CHARGE syndrome is a complex genetic disorder that has been the focus of my research for the last 37 years. CHARGE syndrome affects many of the sensory systems such as balance, hearing, vision and proprioception. Cranial nerve disorders are a dominant feature of CHARGE syndrome. Our research with the Zebra-fish has led to new insight about the Vagus nerve. Individuals with CHARGE syndrome are resilient, determined, bright and energetic. I have been very fortunate to share in their lives and continue to learn from them and their families everyday.
